This year we are renovating our bathroom. As I work with bathroom trends for one of my clientes, I am both updated and quite aware of how I would want our bathroom to look like. Although I think too much expectation and planning is a bad idea, I do have one particular requirement and on this I will not budge – it needs to be a relaxing room where the whole family can destress and recharge.
These 5 bathroom designs are sure to give that relaxing wellness vibe, and they truly inspire me.
A large heavenly shower. We all do spend a lot of time taking showers (actually an average of 8 minutes a day, and so-called “dwellers” can spend up to an hour) so it goes without saying that this should be a high priority area when renovating your bathroom. There’s a jungle of different options and designs, I personally prefer rainshowers.
If I had to choose I would without hesitation always go for the shower area, however when one has the option and space to have both just go for it. I haven’t had a bathtub in the house since I was a teenager and lived with my parents – and how I miss it! Especially after I got pregnant. To spend an hour in a nice hot bubblebath!
I find this japaneese inspired design quite lovely – the cooler dark tiles agains the warmth of the wooden material is soothing and not to mention incredibly elegant. And how about that grassy green wall. However, I would replace the tub with a larger one.
This particular bathroom has inspired me for a long time, and the funny thing is I wouldn’t have my bathroom this way. It is giving me that Zen vibe and I am in love with that wooden door, but the overall design is too dark and cold for my liking. Still it is on my “5 relaxing bathrooms” as I always feel calm when I look at this picture AND it has (as I started out saying) inspired me by the tons.
The ultimate dream! Would be to have a sauna / steam room at home, wouldn’t’ you agree? This design is quite extravagant – but imagine stepping inside this bathroom after a long day, closing the door and just forgetting about space and time inside that beautiful sauna. And with that shower so close by one could just cool down in a heartbeat.
And finally I chose this bathroom as my number 5 (again with a sauna, I know). More than anything I adore the light in this particular bathroom, but it also contains those three features that I dream of – a shower area, bath tub and sauna. Combine these three with the materials above and we’re seriously talking zen.
It wasn’t easy choosing just 5 pictures, trust me – I could probably go on and on about relaxing bathrooms and how to create that wellness-feel, and I will make more posts about just that. Stay tuned for more!
